Happy New Year Friends!!
I love a new year…but I also love new weeks, months and shoes! ha!
2019 is going to be such an adjustment year for us. I do not remember how the adjustment period was or how long it lasted after we had Camden but I feel like we are in a completely different ball game adding a newborn with a 3 1/2 year old! (Feel free to pray for us anytime you think about it!)
I thought I would share with you our goals for 2019 and how we break them down for each area.
Zach does a much better job than I do at dedicating time to working out. Like 6 days a week dedication. I worked out as much as possible when I was pregnant with Davis, however around 4 weeks until his due date I had to stop. I tried working out again for the first time last week and I am happy to report I didn’t die but I was so sore…like still sore in places I didn’t even know I could be sore in. My goal is to be consistent in working out 3 days a week and try to be active every weekend.
We do an okay job at eating healthy but honestly, I can eat like a 300 lb man…so I am trying to reel that in and remember I am not 13 anymore and my metabolism isn’t getting better with age.
This is Zach’s area in our family for sure but we like to start out on the same page weekly, monthly, yearly. I asked him on NYE what our financial goal was going to be this year since we worked our booties off the last half of 2017 first half of 2018 paying off my car.
I am happy to report we are doing things like adding to our retirement and now adding another college fund!
Exciting times to be alive!
Home Improvements –
Depending on what day of the week it is depends on if we want to stay in our home or move. Before Christmas we spent a lot of time in a neighborhood we would love to live in but we have ultimately decided to stay in our current home and make it everything we want!
We did a full kitchen remodel the beginning of 2018 (check my saved instagram stories for the before and after!) and we have just a couple of things left we would like to do!
- Switch out some of the light fixtures
- paint garage floor
- patio entertaining area
- update bathrooms
While we may only do the first two items on this list, we know those four things are what we would love to do!
Vacationing is mine and Zach’s thing. Some people love cars, designer handbags, clothes, etc..we love to vacation. We normally have a running list of places we want to go each year. Now having two kids I am sure our vacations will cut back since it is a lot easier to find a babysitter for one vs. two!
This year we have decided to either go to Sonoma or Mexico – I know two totally different places but they are both our favorite. We also are planning a trip to Disney Land, if you have ever been send me all the recommendations!
Personal Growth –
We have a goal this year to do a bible study together. Zach and I are in a home group with church that we work through bible studies as a group, but we have not ever done a bible study just the two of us. I am excited to see what study we find and how it brings us closer together! Also looking for recommendations on a couples bible study!
I started last year picking a word for the year. Last year I chose the word ‘Grace’ and guys, I showed grace to everyone except myself. I am hoping to do a much better job this year at my “word” than I did in 2018.
My word for 2019 is rest.
I know you are probably laughing right now since we have a newborn and I am thinking I am going to “rest”, however the type of rest I am working towards is in God. I do a really good job of doing the 50 million things I have on my never ending to-do list and do not take enough time each day to sit still, spend time with God and read his word. I may need to write this word on a couple of sticky notes to post around the house as a reminder!
How do you prep and plan for the new year?
Wishing you all an amazing year, I know its going to be a great one!
